  16. Mirage, California. As actor and singer, she was forgettable;
  17. as a dancer, rarely better than proficient. But as the sum
  18. mation of America's most legendary decade, Keeler was matched
  19. by few. Her spunky innocence sparkled in Gold Diggers of 1933,
  20. Footlight Parade and 42nd Street, in which Warner Baxter warned,
  21. "You've got to come back a star!" She did.
