<p> DIED. Ruby Keeler, 83, 1930s movie-musical star; in Rancho
Mirage, California. As actor and singer, she was forgettable;
as a dancer, rarely better than proficient. But as the sum
mation of America's most legendary decade, Keeler was matched
by few. Her spunky innocence sparkled in Gold Diggers of 1933,
Footlight Parade and 42nd Street, in which Warner Baxter warned,
"You've got to come back a star!" She did.
